Who
holds the copyright on the images?
While you will be given a
high-resolution digital copy of the images, Painted Rose Photography retains
the copyright on all of the pictures.
Clients are allowed to copy, edit, print or do whatever they feel like
with the pictures, provided it is done for personal, non-commercial use
Who
will be the photographer for my wedding?
Your primary photographer
will be Geoff Squires. On occasion
an assistant may be used, but only if needed, as the photographic style doesn’t
usually require one
How
many hours of coverage does the package include?
This depends on the
package chosen. Please click on the "Pricing" link to the right for
packages and prices
How
long does it take for the images to be processed after the wedding?
Typically, it will take
between 4 and 6 weeks to properly process the images. In the event that specific images are requested sooner (for
example, printing thank you cards, etc), those can be processed first, and
given to the Bride and Groom earlier than the rest of the images
What
type of equipment do you use?
We use professional
digital SLR cameras (Canon) and gear (various companies)
What
style of photography do you provide?
We are what would be
considered portrait photojournalists.
Most of the work during the wedding day would involve a photojournalistic
style (sometimes called candid, casual, etc) where the photographer is apart
from the action, and recording things as they unfold. The portrait part involves actively setting
a scene, or basic posing instructions.
We try to create very simple
poses for people, and let them show their own creative side by adding their own
personality to a picture. This creates
much more natural images that will provide a unique element to the wedding
photos
How
long do the “formal portraits” typically take?
Longer than you might
think. For very informal group shots,
typically a few minutes between groups.
For semi-posed shots, it can be 5 or more minutes, depending on the
location and the idea behind the picture.
Bride and Groom pictures typically take between 20 – 40 minutes. All of these depend on people being ready,
and available, and only 1 or 2 venues for the photos, within a few minutes
travel of each other.
We
prefer to take as long as possible with the Bride and Groom, allowing them to
relax after the ceremony, to catch truly romantic images that are free from
stress caused by the sometimes hectic schedule
Should
I make a list of specific poses or groupings?
If you want pictures
outside the Bride, Groom, Wedding Party, and parents of the Bride and Groom,
then yes. Of course, if you simply want
pictures of a favourite aunt or uncle later in the evening, that is not
a problem, and doesn’t necessarily require a list be created. If you want a large number of very specific
groups, it is best to create a list several weeks ahead of time, so that we have
time to find areas at the venues to accommodate them
Is
there a limit to the number of photos you will take?
Not under normal
circumstances. Typically 1000 or more
photos will be taken at a normal wedding, covering everything imaginable. We are always happy to take ‘just one
more picture’.
Can
family and friends take pictures during the day?
Absolutely. Since we don’t base our pricing on the idea
that we are the only one allowed to print the pictures, there are no issues with
others taking pictures. That being said,
once in a while, there is an aspiring photographer in the crowd who wants to
try their hand at wedding photography, and will get in the way of a shot. If anyone attending your wedding fits this
description, simply have them contact us before the wedding to go over some
basic ground rules. This can actually
be quite handy if they know a large number or all of the guests
How can
I reserve my date?
Simply by meeting and
signing the contract, completing the booking form and providing a retainer
What
are your retainer / deposit conditions?
We ask for 20% of the
final price as a retainer. When? this retainer
is requested at the time the contract is signed.
As stated in the contract, a couple has 60 days after signing the
contract and payment of the retainer, and up to 7 days prior to the wedding
date to change their minds.
After 60 days and sooner than 7 days to the wedding, the retainer becomes non-refundable
When do
we pay the final balance?
What
does the contract say?
If you would to like to
read it before deciding, please contact me, and I will e-mail it
to you
